अमेरिकी सैन्य अधिकारियों के शव के अवशेष 58 साल बाद अमेरिका भेजे गए
भारत में प्रथम व द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध में शामिल रहे अमेरिकी सेना के प्रमुख अधिकारियों में से एक थे मेजर जनरल हैरीक्लेन बैंक पिकेट जिनकी मौत पश्चिम बंगाल के दार्जिलिंग में हो गई थी उनको वहीं पर दफना दिया गया था अब उनकी कब्र से उनके अवशेष को निकालकर उनके देश भेजा गया है
जहां उन्हें आलिंगटन नेशनल सिमेट्री में दफनाया जाएगा कोलकाता में इस बात की जानकारी अमेरिकी काउंसिल के जर्नल मेलिंडा पावेक ने दी पावेक के अनुसार मेजर जनरल हैरी 1965 में दार्जिलिंग दौरे पर गए थे जहां उनका आकस्मिक निधन हो गया था उन्हें वही एक कब्रिस्तान में दफना दिया गया था उनके परिवार ने अमेरिकी सरकार से उनके अवशेषों को वापस लाने के लिए कदम उठाने का आग्रह किया था अमेरिकी सरकार ने भारत सरकार से संपर्क किया भारत ने इस पर सहमत जताई पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार के सहयोग से अवशेष को मार्च में निकाला गया 2 महीने की औपचारिकता के बाद उसे अमेरिका भेज दिया गया पीकेट ने प्रथम व द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई थी
The remains of the dead bodies of American military officers were sent to America after 58 years
One of the prominent officers of the American Army who was involved in the First and Second World War in India was Major General Harry Klein Bank Pickett, who died in Darjeeling, West Bengal. Now his remains have been removed from his grave and sent to his country where he will be buried in Ellington National Cemetery.
This information was given by Melinda Pavek, Journal of the American Council in Kolkata. According to Pavek, Major General Harry visited Darjeeling in 1965. He was buried in the same cemetery where he had suddenly passed away. His family urged the US government to take steps to bring back his remains. The US government contacted the Indian government. India agreed. With the help of the West Bengal government, the remains were exhumed in March. After two months of formalities, they were sent to America. Pickett played an important role in World War I and II.
